Hi All I wanted to share with you that Max, Maddie and myself attended the 1st Annual Oldenburg Horse Show and Mare Performance Test in Solvang CA, where the misses Premium Mare Glenormiston Amelia (AUS) and Premium Mare Candidate Century Hills Taylor Maide (CAN) became the first two pony mares of any breed to be awarded Premium Titles with the GOV/Weser Ems (German Oldenburg Verband). Glenormiston Amelia also won the Euro-Horseshoeing Weser Ems Pony divisions with the comment "Perfect Breed Type" from Judges Katrin Burger (GER) and Uli Henshcke (GER) and also Holly Simenson (USA). Amelia also wowed the judges earning a perfect "8" for her exceptional jumping talent. Amelia's score was the second highest awarded for the entire test. It was a wonderful confirmation or our Connemara Pony Amabasadors in this very exciting and prestigious event. Amelia is the first Pony Mare in North America to hold Premium Breeding Titles with two Registries. She was also "BEST IN SHOW CONNEMARA" placing 3rd/19 at the 2006 West Coast Mountain and Moreland--a title only surpassed by her husband Wildwych Eclipse in 2007 who was named Supreme Champion and Overall Best in Show (ALL BREEDS) under Judge Linda Impey (NPS,UK). I will add a few photos to the gallery.
This was our first time meeting both Katrin Burger and Uli Henschke. I was very impressed with Katrins take on the ponies and was thrilled with her comments regarding both girls and our breeding program in general. Overall It was a very warm and welcoming environment and a super opportunity for learning. We were thrilled with both girls as they really outdid themselves. I am hoping the judges comments will be on the video we ordered.
Most of the videos I have seen do include judges comments. Holly is very helpful and loves to pass on her knowledge. Katrin was the same. I attended a young horse symposium with them.
That is so cool, I really wanted to go to one of their young horse symposiums----hopefully they will offer another one in the near future. Max and I both think we will continue in this direction with the ponies--ie the GOV/Weser Ems as our alternate registry. Relative to what we've seen/experienced elsewhere it seems the GOV/Weser Ems has more to offer.
