American Connemara Pony Society Region X

California, Nevada, Hawaii

I really enjoyed WCCS, and I was impressed by the quality of competition and by all the interesting things going on. I only wish I could have taken in every minute - seen more of the inspection process, watched the driving, etc. It was very hot but I still had a wonderful time.

Thank you to everyone for all your hard work in pulling this show together. Creating an event practically from scratch is always a huge undertaking and some rough spots are to be expected. Twin Rivers was a perfect venue, and I hope we'll be able to do it again some time.

Hi K,
now that you have responded to the discussion you should receive any new updates. How are you! We've been so busy I've not had time to keep up to date with the Region X site!

Congrats! to Betsy McCauley and Blennerhassets Baird Druid--who was awarded his provisional liscense with the ISR/OLD NA Sport Pony Division. *see photos in the Gallery!
Congrats to Glenormiston Amelia and Century Hills Taylor Maide--both are now Premium Mare Candidates with the GOV/Weser Ems (German Riding Pony).
Congrats to Wildwych Eclipse for qualifying for both the GAIG/USDF Championships and the CDS Open Championships! (Oct 1-4 at Rancho Murieta) Anyone Else Going?
We've seen a few connemaras out and about this season including: Newbridge Joe, Cobblestone Rhys, Denvers Venus, Orions Bold Princess and Orions Light.
how is everyone!?!

Congrats all!! I hope to make it to championships with Ophelia at training level next year! I will say special wishes to the fairies for you to kick some horsey butt at the CDs Championships E!!!!
Me too!!!!...wouldnt it be great to have a whole aisle of connemara ponies! Only one problem....it will be in LA next year :( --max already said he isnt going to LA.

We went to the RAAC championship too and there were like a gazillion riders at training....the winner scored a 75 percent (rolls eyes!--one of CNDC new imports). It was a really nice show--super friendly and well run. Thats what Im going to try for next year-Regional Adult Amatuer Championships.
They are having Future Event Horse (under three) and Young Event Horse (4 and 5 year olds) at both Twin Rivers and Ram Tap (Sept and Oct). We were going to take max's two year old Rocky, Stella and maybe Tiger too as well as Eclipse to both woodside and twin this fall. Its been a crazy year!
Oh you are so kind. I love both my ponies and feel very blessed to be new to the connemaras, but to have such nice ones. Thanks to you on your excellent choice of sire for W.Valkyrie. Great eye!!!
Can't wait until WCCS next year and hope you can join. When do they start planning that and do they need help? ; ). H

I wish I could do RAAC Championships, but can't. Oh I forgot about the SOCAL, NORCAL thing with CDS. I am out for next year too :( Very bummer. Well I'll have to think up some new goals! Eventing championships maybe?
I will be at woodside with a sport pony I have for sale. Last I knew the future and young event horses had to be 15.2 hands or higher? Did they change that? They jump too high for me at the 4 year old level!!!
I think I am going to end up leaning towards promoting mine as dressage ponies that are started over fences. I can't keep up with all the training required to event anymore. I actually am starting to think about doing hunters more!! Never thought!!

Also: may I say that Whitehorse Tack in Templeton was an excellent added attraction. Lots of good stuff for adults and kids and ponies - great selection of a lot of products in a full range of sizes.

Hey all: I really enjoyed the WCCS. I am sunburned and my riders Kristen Enedy and Megan Lepper were melting like chocolate in the heat but it was worth it. The inspections were great because Marynell was so willing to answer questions and I think she was spot-on about my two ponies. They both passed with very good and excellent marks but Marynell did not miss the faults I knew they had - tied in elbows and one neck too short.

Even though my mares did well in their performance classes I was most proud of my two-year-old filly Rosewood Poetry. I had just taught her to lunge and trot in hand. She had never been off the farm but was totally calm at the show. She won the Baby Obedience Class and never batted an eye. I only get to show the in-hand horses so I had to come back bragging at the barn with Poet's blue ribbon. There's nothing like a home-bred winner, one you have bred and handled yourself.

Can't wait for next years show! Darian
