American Connemara Pony Society Region X

California, Nevada, Hawaii

I really enjoyed WCCS, and I was impressed by the quality of competition and by all the interesting things going on. I only wish I could have taken in every minute - seen more of the inspection process, watched the driving, etc. It was very hot but I still had a wonderful time.

Thank you to everyone for all your hard work in pulling this show together. Creating an event practically from scratch is always a huge undertaking and some rough spots are to be expected. Twin Rivers was a perfect venue, and I hope we'll be able to do it again some time.

It was great to meet you and your lovely ponies, Darian!

Congrats Darian, thats terrific, I think the true highlight of the show for me was taking my yearling Tiger, our two year old Rocky and Maurya's yearling Stella down to the big water complex on the CC course. I thought Tiger might hesitate before getting in but he never batted an eye and jumped in like he was born in a puddle. It really made me grin! Tiger literally had no prep for the show so I was very pleased with him all weekend. Nothing bothered him and he was a real delight to handle.

Hi Elaine, Look forward to seeing you in Healdsburg, RRR Shows. Keep us posted. We might be able to get them to put on a few M&M classes or pony classes or given enough entries, Connemara classes. Are you interested? I know a few who would be interested in over fences, flat and in hand classes. Always looking for ways to get our Connemaras recognized. Darian

Definitely. The dates and other circumstances may not always work out, but Healdsburg is an easy trip for us.

I was hoping to take her to the h/j schooling show at Hoofbeats on the 18th, but unfortunately I had to agree to work that day.

You know, it seems to me that an organized glomming of Connemaras at a random show could be some excellent guerilla marketing for the breed. ACPS has those Champion Connemara awards that can be arranged for any recognized show...

Be sure to notify the show well in advance so they can put the Champion Connemara award in premium. Otherwise you can't get these awards. Unfortunately I was trying to get this for the CDS dressage shows and the show secretaries won't do it as they can not do all the breeds for everyone, too many. So I am unable to get this champion ribbon at the dressage shows. Let me know how it works for you! I think some of the recognized breed based shows may do it, but dressage shows won't!!! I understand both sides.

We tried too at specific shows and weren''t able to get in the program. I have not tried for any hunter/jumper shows...but if we work together who knows what might happen. What we might be able to do is year end awards with the different regional organizations (CDS, HJ, Eventing) but we'd likely have to sponsor/supply our own awards.

I asked around and it isn't just our breed it is the fact that the open shows just can't do all that paperwork for every breed out there. most breed Organizations have the competitor get form and have the show office state that they where high point/champion . Kinda like the achievement awards, but for open individual shows. I think the breed just gets recongiziton just by performing well at these shows.
