Redbud Ranch Produces, Trains and Promotes Purebred Connemara and German Riding Ponies for Pleasure, Breeding and Sport. Currently we stand the Purebred Pony Stallion Wildwych Eclipse. Eclipse is Approved and Liscenced with the American Connemara Pony Society, The ISR/OLD NA Sport Pony Division and the German Oldenburg Verbrand Weser Ems (German Riding Pony Registry). Currently Wildwych Eclipse is the only Purebred Connemara Pony Stallion in North American to be fully licensed for breeding by all three registries.

In 2007 Wildwych Eclipse became the first Purebred Connemara Pony Stallion to ever complete and pass the most prestigious and sophisticated Test for Pony Stallions in North America.
Wildwych Eclipse achieved the highest scores on record for Character, Rideability, Ability and Willingness to Work. We feel these are some of the most desireable attributes of any horse, let alone a Pony Breeding Stallion. After a brief rest following our trip to Ohio, Eclipse and I have been getting back to work with plans of continuing our training in dressage, show jumping and cross country. In contrast to what some might think, Eclipse's experience in Ohio has improved both his form and technique over fences as well as contributed to a much more phyisically fit and poweful individual. Even better is he is still my VERY QUIET Stallion, best pony friend and partner.

On the breeding front, we are looking forwards to eight foals (four purebreds) in 2008. Most especially we are anxiously awaiting our first homebred purebred Connemara Pony sired by our very own Eclipse and out of our Premium Imported Mare Glenormiston Amelia.

WCCS 2009

We are both delighted and thrilled by the outstanding success of our ponies at this seasons West Coast Connemara Pony Show. For the sixth consecutive season our young Stallion Wildwych Eclipse* remains undefeated in his age group against all comers both imported and domestic. Perhaps even more exciting is the success of his progeny.

Max’s beautiful Two Year Old Redbuds Moonrock (Wildwych Eclipse x Palladia) won the Partbred Championship in a very strong class of mature ponies any one of which we’d been happy to take home!

Eclipse’s yearling partbred daughter Stellaluna was also this years Shamrock Cup Winner (Yearling Partbred Futurity Winner) as well as the winner of the “Baby Obedience” class! Congratulations to Owner/Breeder Maurya Faulkner. This is the second Shamrock Cup winner sired by Eclipse in as many years!

Our young purebreds also made a very strong showing with our yearling Purebred Redbud’s Celtic Tiger (Wildwych Eclipse x Glenormiston Amelia) winning his class as well as Kat Ongs Featherstone Nightsong (Wildwych Eclipse x Coastal Tully Roisin) winning hers. Congratulations to Owner Breeder Kat Ong of Featherstone Connemaras!

We also had great fun competing in the Open Dressage Show held in Conjunction with our Breed Show. Eclipse won his second level test and also received his first qualifying score at 2nd Test Four. We also had great fun with our four year olds Century Hills Taylor Maide and Redbuds Cracker Jack. Both Ponies received “8‘s” for gaits, scoring 67.2% at training level test four.

Most exciting however is that our Taylor Maide passed her breed inspection with exceptionally high marks making her a Premium Mare Candidate. Taylor also placed third in perhaps the best mares class we’ve ever seen, as well as winning the class for broodmares! Well done Taylor Maide.

Three Ponies, Three Successful Outings

It was a spectacular weekend for three of our ponies, all three having met their training goals in one fell swoop. First up I had my beautiful four year old homebred/home trained Redbuds Cracker Jack (*Glenormiston Billies Bay x Premium Mare *Glenormiston Amelia) out for his first really big outing of the season. Our goal for Jack was just to get out and see the sights and work in a group as well as on his own. He was PERFECT and I could not have asked for a more enjoyable outing. Oh, and I forgot my vest and had to wear Max’s which was incredibly annoying as it kept bumping the back of my helmut----grrrrr!

Next up was our beautiful four year old Purebred Mare Century Hills Taylor Maide (ES Maplehurst Micheal MacDaire x *Eastlands Glendearg). Taylors goal was very simple: Get Wet and Like It. With a little patience and encouragement and a very calm lead from Lucky Teddy---Taylor is now successfully coursing the “baby” water at EA Horse Park. Good Pony!

CENTURY HILLS TAYLOR MAIDE

Last but never least, our beautiful Premium Performance Stallion Wildwych Eclipse* had a HUGELY successful weekend schooling the Training/Preliminary Cross Country Course. The ditch issue has been addressed and it looks like we’ve got our little man back on the road to success. Both Max and Jackie were very pleased with how well Eclipse’s jumping training is progressing. Eclipse is schooling primarily Training Level but has no issue jumping the occasional Preliminary Fence (3.6 x 4‘wide!). Next Up a Bit of Dressage!! So Stay Tuned!

Taylor’s First Outing Under Saddle!

Our Four Year old Purebred Connemara Pony Mare Century Hills Taylor Maide made her under saddle debut over the weekend.

Taylor a stunning dapple buckskin, standing just 14.2, was hard to miss with her outstanding gaits and gorgeous long mane and tail. Considering this pony has never put a foot over anything larger than a pole on the ground it was simply amazing to see her jump nearly everything the big boys did. We are looking forwards to getting our beautiful girl out this season. Next up for Taylor is the WCCS Breed Show and Inspection!

Taylor (Elite Stallion Maplehurst Micheal MacDaire x *Eastlands Glendearg) is confirmed in foal to Performance Premium Stallion Wildwych Eclipse for March of 2010.

and don’t miss updates to Flora’s Album here: Flor D’Luna

Congratulations To Team Redbud!

A Hearty Well Done to young rider Amanda Volle of Auburn California for an outstanding third place finish at Training Level with our six year old Stallion Wildwych Eclipse. You guys were AWESOME! Max and I could not be more delighted! Best of All it sure looked to me that Eclipse was glad to be back in action! Congratulations on a Terrific Job! This was Eclipse’s and Amanda’s second go at Training Level, and the pair is already gunning for Preliminary!

Congrats Darian, thats terrific, I think the true highlight of the show for me was taking my yearling Tiger, our two year old Rocky and Maurya's yearling Stella down to the big water complex on the CC course. I thought Tiger might hesitate before ...
There was a very interesting interview with Herbert Imping (president of the German Society for many years) in which he talks about using the more modern mares to produce high quality performance types. I've copied and pasted it here. Think it mak...
Super Picture, very nice form both of you!
I agree H, it is definitely easier with a leggier pony to compete in most disciplines.

Lisa!
Featherstone Nightsong was RESERVE CHAMPION "BEST OF BREED"!! We are so proud of her and can't wait to go out next year.
This says a lot about Eclipse and Roisin! What a great out-cross. It's fun that both of Nightsong's parents were the Supreme Champions at last year's Connemara show... and now, at just 4 months she is following in their footsteps.
Now if only we can get one from Annie... :)
Have a WONDERFUL day!

Neat. I'll be interested to see photos of F.Nightwing, as the mom was the champ at least year's show, right? A champ. mom and champ dad ... sounds like a good mix.

Max (and you) should be excited - Taylor really is flashy and looks great. Bet she'll make a great baby with Eclipse. I tried a Blog - but I don't think it worked. I'll sent you what I wrote (which is bascially what is in the blog) and photos with descriptions of what they are. Thanks. K
