It has been hot and Merry being basically a lazy pony has given me the added encouragement to try it. At first, I thought I would fall off at the walk. Every Parelli move I had learned was too big. You can't lean over to do side pass. All my learned movements had to be toned waaay down or else. I found Merry to be very well behaved. I am wondering if she knows I could fall off. Is that even a concept for them, be careful or mom will eat dirt? After this third time, I am slightly sore on the top surface of my thighs. I am not gripping, just using different muscles I guess. I trotted and trotted her all around the large arena, with much more balance. I do love the handle on the BB pad though! Today, I let Merry loose in Play land with no expectations other than to let her chill out. Well, we ended up doing some awesome things. Merry and I played tag running around the stock trailer, she on one side, me trying to stay ahead of her on the other. Then, after galloping around it a few times and me running as fast as I could in soft sand so as not to let her catch me, she would then jump in the trailer. I ran to give her a treat through the slats. What a fun game we had. Our relationship grows in ways I don't even understand. I think I just need to remember to step up to the plate when I am challenged and the rest of the time have as much fun as I can. Horses have a great sense of fun and we can learn from it. Now I am really wondering if my LBI is really just a lazy LBE.
I tried something today I had been meaning to do for a long time. I was hanging out with Merry in her corral after all of our cavorting around. She went to roll. I went next to her and kneeled down as best I could and then got up when she got up. The look on her face was priceless, she looked very puzzled! I shook when she shook and then we went back to the feeder to eat the remains of lunch. That's where I draw the line. Hay is not on my menu.
